It has to be quantifiable because measurability is inherent in the use of electronic technology and inherent in the usage of marketing.
The one caveat to the definition offered by this Digital Marketing Institute is the fact that it utilizes the word integrated to establish Digital Marketing. Using an Integrated approach to execute a digital marketing and advertising strategy would ultimately provide a much better response rate, having an integrated strategy is not inherent in the definition. A campaign may encompass a bunch of well placed interactive electronic communicating messages through cyberspace and other electronic media rather than set the advertising in magazines, tv, newspapers, or radio. This campaign will still be described as Digital Marketing. In conclusion, I define Digital Marketing as the practice of promoting products and services using digital distribution channels, reaching targeted customers, building pragmatic connection with these customers, and having the ability to create measurable results.
